The name I am using is a play of words with my first name, Jet, combined with word etcetera meaning ‘all the rest’. Basically it means Jet and all the rest. My Creative Writing teacher liked it. I like it, too.

About my turtles. My first turtle wasn’t exactly mine. He was a little bigger than a compact disk. I named him “Pagong” because he’s a pagong, turtle in Filipino. My siblings also gave him different names like “Pong”, “Bilis” and “Ba-o”. I guess the turtle really didn’t care anyway. He doesn’t eat bread but he eats cake.

Unfortunately, he was stolen by some kids in my grandmother’s house. He was there because he was a prop for my grandparents’ Golden Anniversary. We didn’t realize he was gone until my three-year-old brother, Mico kept on bugging me: “’san gong? ’san gong?” (”Where’s Pagong?”)

Here’s Mico with his favorite red umbrella:

And that was how Pagong left us. I hope he’s in a better place.

I sometimes imagined inscribing a poem on his back but I never really had the chance to do it. Oh, well. I have other turtle stories as I also have other turtle. But I guess this is all for now, I kind of feel bad just now reminiscing about Pagong.

Now you know why my blog is entitled “Inscriptions Behind A Turtle’s Back”.

I always have this fear of losing my identity. I mean, what would you do if you woke up one day and learns that the name you’ve been using all this time is not yours? You are not who you think you are. Your mom and dad doesn’t recognize you and throws you away from the house.

What would you feel if you suddenly realize that you do not exist. You do not have any records nor proof of existence since birth. Where would you go? Again, what would you feel?

This kind of situation has become one of my worst fears. Until now, I wouldn’t know what to do if ever it happens to me. You can see in the different movies, television series and other related literature that the idea has also stricken other people. The fear of having no identity. The fear of losing yourself.

Actually this fear is a reality to some people. Because of the wide expansion of technology and people’s intimate relationship to it, cases of lost identities become rampant. Important files and data, credit card essentials and personal/professional e-mail accounts have been hacked and infiltrated by identity thieves.

It’s a good thing sites like LifeLock is at hand. The site offers security to its customers and guarantees safe transactions through the delicate world of the Internet. They offer quality protection from identity theft. LifeLock Promotion Code gives the customers consumer-friendly offers. LifeLock Promo Code also give away subscription discounts.

This is just one issue that simply reminds us how important our identity really is.

I recently read a book entitled Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. A wonderful book. Contrary to what I usually read, this book is not about creative literature. I’m sure a lot of people are already familiar with this best-selling book.

The book guides us people into the world of business which I think really is imperative for us to learn. The author opened my eyes to realize that the educational system actually trains us to be employees, not employers. Here is a book that states the obvious in a way that really did surprise me.

Every concept the book explained was quite feasible. I, along with my friend Dario, brainstormed in ways to get on the business track as early as now. Our first step is to buy assets. And in this first step we face a dilemma: Where shall we find capital?

So we researched for possible sources. Applying for a personal loan is one option I am quite willing to take. We’ve still not applied to a bank nor even entered a bank for that matter. But we’ve searched the net once in a while and found top sites that deals with personal loans. We resolved to take note of them in case we choose to avail of their services whenever we’re really that ready for business.

Until now, we’re still trying to learn more from Kiyosaki’s other books regarding this matter. I’m concerned in developing our talents for business. Aside from loan, I resolved to work part-time jobs to earn an honest income for capital and also learn the different trades in business to familiarize myself to the game.
