huge crush on andrea corr

April 28, 2008

When it comes to music, I’ve got a gender preference. Haha. No, I don’t know why. No, I don’t mean to offend or anything. I don’t even know if it’s offending to some people.

I love music. Who doesn’t right? I learned in one of my classes in criticism that music is regarded to be the best of all art forms. It could be debatable to a lot of artists out there but the reason given to me was quite satisfactory in my standards.

Music was considered the best of all art forms because of its nature. No medium was needed in comprehending music. Paintings needed to be interpreted from its canvas to be appreciated. Literary texts need to be analyzed from the paper. Music, however, is simply to be experienced. We no longer need to analyze or criticize music anymore. We simply let it flow into our ears. That’s it!

Going back to the gender issue at hand. Well, I don’t know if I’m offending anybody about my preference. Most likely not. I’m far from being a misogynist or a chauvinist, believe me. I like women of course. As a matter of fact, that’s the reason why I prefer women vocalist than men.

I mean it.

In my eighteen years of existence in this world, I have developed a “taste” towards female singers. Their different from male singers, of course. That alone could be reason why male and female are divided into alto, soprano, tenor and base. Don’t ask me any technicalities there, I’m not really good at Music back in my elementary years.

I just like the way women sing. The sound is just so beautiful to my hearing. I like the Corrs. They’re like the Read the rest of this entry »

big apple fashion schools

March 6, 2008

Art and creativity can actually earn you a degree! People has been very critical to me when I took up the Creative Writing Program. I mean, they had expected me to take up a course that would ensure me a “bright future” (meaning medicine, law, accountancy, nursing and other white-collared job courses).

But in choosing a course, I believe that one should follow your passion and mix it up with a little practicality. Embarking to the world of fashion is one of the best answers.

If I was to study fashion, where else should it be but The Big Apple?!

I’ve stumbled in a site that features New York fashion schools. The site helps you in finding the best fashion schools in New York from design to merchandising and marketing! Fashion articles are featured to keep you updated to the latest news in the fashion community. Interesting autobiographies of today’s greatest designers (Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, etc.) are also in the site for everyone to see.

The site also offers its views and suggestions about one’s possible career in fashion. Fashion schools New York is an option for practically anyone who is interested enough to hone their artistic talents and wield it for the public to experience.

Who know? You could be one of the new trend-setters of the century.

dude, doodle

February 22, 2008

Doodle Art is quite a great hobby almost parallel to writing. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, if that’s so then how many words does a topsy-turvy crazy picture is worth? That’s the beauty of beauty of doodling.

Unlike poster making and painting, doodling doesn’t need harmony, balance and inner meaning. It is pure creativity and imagination. Only one rule: DRAW.

After learning about it in the television (it was endorsed in a kid’s art show), I tried to think of the idea of complete chaos as a work of art. Just like abstract illustrations, doodles seem to have their own stories in them but doesn’t exactly give it directly.

I tried collaborating doodling with my writing. And it actually corresponds with each other. They’re both art for one thing. It actually reminds me of impressionism. Everything in detail. Everything in chaos.

If you can see a doodle. You’d see a crowded canvas with different images jam-packed together. And it’s great. In my doodles, there are no laws. The Law of Gravity for instance, is inexistent. You’d see boulders hanging in the middle of the paper. Fishes with man’s legs. Eyes scattered all over the paper. You could just imagine the horrible and wonderful worlds I created in those canvas.

Try it. You’ll see.
